Jupiter has recently been acknowledged by CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) for good environmental management, scoring a B for Climate, as well as being recognised for awareness of Forest issues and Water security, scoring a C in both categories.
What is CDP?
CDP is a global non-profit charity that runs an annual global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. CDP scores play a critical role in moving companies from transparency to action, with over 24,800 organisations responding in 2024.
CDP data is used by a wide range of stakeholders across finance, procurement, investment and policy, helping manage increasing risks of climate change, biodiversity loss and water security.
Jupiter has responded to CDP voluntarily each year since 2011, prior to many regulatory frameworks requiring us to disclose climate related information, demonstrating our proactive commitment to sustainability.
What does our score mean?
A B score indicates that the disclosing company has addressed the environmental impacts of their business and ensures good environmental management.
A C score indicates that a company has knowledge of impacts on/of environmental issues intersect with its business, and how its operations affect people and ecosystems
CDP scores alone are not a comprehensive metric of a company’s level of sustainability or ‘green-ness’, but indicate the level of action reported by the company to assess and manage its environmental impacts during the reporting year.
Whilst Jupiter is proud of the scores we have achieved, we recognise that there is room for improvement.
Notably, this is the first year CDP has scored for Forest and Water, where we received a C. We are looking forward to increasing our scores in these areas, particularly through our commitment to the Finance for Biodiversity (FfB) Pledge.
In our 2024 Sustainability Report, due to be published in April 2025, we will be disclosing on our initiation targets as part of our FfB pledge commitment.

The value of active minds: independent thinking
A key feature of Jupiter’s investment approach is that we eschew the adoption of a house view, instead preferring to allow our specialist fund managers to formulate their own opinions on their asset class. As a result, it should be noted that any views expressed – including on matters relating to environmental, social and governance considerations – are those of the author(s), and may differ from views held by other Jupiter investment professionals.
